Be with Nature: connecting to stillness through Nature
Be with Nature is a gentle, guided nature-connection session for anyone who wants to slow down, spend time in nature, experience quiet reflection, and rebuild a simple, meaningful relationship with nature.
Marston Forest Garden in Marston, Oxford, has already hosted two sessions this summer, with the next scheduled for Tuesday 30 June, 6.30–7.30 pm. More sessions are planned for the autumn - check our events calendar for confirmed dates.
Connecting with Nature in Marston Forest Garden
Why nature connection matters
The power of connecting with Nature is profound yet commonly unrealised. Many of us spend a lot of time indoors or rushing around, leading busy lives. We can feel the effects of being disconnected from the natural world in our bodies, our minds and the way we move through the Earth.
As the pressures on people and the planet grow, Be With Nature offers an invitation to return to that relationship with Nature - not just as an idea or a trendy hobby, but as a simple, lived experience, remembering that we ourselves are part of Nature.
Be with Nature aims to address this “forgetting” of Nature’s depth and stillness by helping anyone and everyone experience Nature’s stillness, become more aligned with it, and feel a greater sense of completeness within themselves.
Marston Forest Garden is home to an abundance of both attended-to and untouched Nature — bursting with life, community, and a sense of held respect for the land. Be with Nature has been working in partnership with Marston Forest Garden to bring the dimension of Nature connection into this special place through a series of sessions.
What happens at a Be with Nature session?
Be with Nature invites a deeper relationship with Nature through the Pathways to Nature Connection. These pathways offer simple ways to build a more meaningful connection with the natural world, supporting stillness, presence and wellbeing. Underpinned by these pathways, Be with Nature sessions offer both guidance and space.
They are different from many common forms of engagement with Nature because the emphasis is not on doing, learning or achieving, but on being present and noticing what is already there: stillness, seasonal change, birdsong, plants, weather, and the feeling of being part of the living world.
Be with Nature offers quiet space and simple guidance to help you notice the natural world around you. During the session, you may be invited to slow down, listen, observe, and reflect quietly among the plants, trees and wildlife of the Forest Garden. The pace is gentle, and there is no pressure to take part in anything that does not feel right for you.
