Our Seed Library is a simple, community-powered way to help more people grow food in Marston and across Oxford. You can pick up a few packets of veg, herb and flower seeds, take them home to sow, and (if you can) save some seed at the end of the season to bring back for others. It’s a practical bit of local sharing that supports community gardening, reduces waste, and helps more gardens and balconies thrive.

Take what you need, have a go, and see what happens. We’ll help you along the way 💚

What you’ll find (and how it works)

The seed list changes through the year, but you’ll usually find a mix of:

  • vegetables (easy staples and seasonal favourites)

  • herbs (great for pots and windowsills)

  • flowers for pollinators (good for wildlife-friendly growing)

Take what you’ll use, and leave plenty for others. No experience needed — if you’re new to growing, start with 1–2 easy things and learn as you go.

Check what’s available + when to sow

We keep an up-to-date shared spreadsheet with:

  • what seeds are currently available

  • basic notes on how/where to grow them

  • the best months to sow (indoors or outdoors)
